Cusco 20.09
Buenos dias chicos!
We arrived in Cusco a couple days ago. Cusco is actually a very nice city with an old city centre, mixture of the ancient inca times with traces of the spanish invasor or colonizer, as you wish The city was once the centre of the Inca empire, and if you go to Plaza de Armas (by the way, all of the peruvian cities have one
you can imagine living 500 years ago…wearing colourful clothes , hearing quechua and spanish in the streets, playing andian flute melodies… But this isn’t all. Not much far away we have the most famous atraction in Peru - Machu Picchu!
The train to get to one of the 7 wonderes of the world is quite expensive, around 100 dollars a return ticket! and that wouldn’t include the entrance to “Machu”…So… we had to find a “better” way to get there! Through an agency we’ve got a better offer … for almost the same price we would pay we got a tour of 1 night and 2 days with meals and guide included. So let’s do it!
Machu Picchu (old moutain in quechua) is really amaizing! A village on the top of the world. Actually it’s belived that the Incas picked up the place not only for the natural resources and comercial trails around (7 in all), but as well to be next to the sun as possible. By the way, you can still see nowdays the importance of the sun to this people when you think about they’re currency which is called sol = sun !
The meals included weren’t, as we expected, not the best ones… here you have to take care of your somatch if you want to survive the journey without spending to much time on the toillet (if you know what I mean). But we’ll always remeber this trip as a funny one, once we met 2 very nice chicos from Argentina: Miguel and Sebastian. Saludos amigos!!!
It’s time to leave now…. next stop will be in Puno, where we’ll visit the floating islands with indigena culture: Uros and Taquilla, both placed in the highest lake in the world : Lago Titicacca
hasta luego!!!
PS. Did we mention that one bagpack of ours was stollen while sleeping in a camping site in Cordillera Blanca? But at least the tiefs were “nice” and left us the content of it! Now I have a new bagpack…more confortable, but as heavier as before!
