Cusco 20.09

Buenos dias chicos!

We arrived in Cusco a couple days ago. Cusco is actually a very nice city with an old city centre, mixture of the ancient inca times with traces of the spanish invasor or colonizer, as you wish :) The city was once the centre of the Inca empire, and if you go to Plaza de Armas (by the way, all of the peruvian cities have one :) you can imagine living 500 years ago…wearing colourful clothes , hearing quechua and spanish in the streets, playing andian flute melodies…  But this isn’t all. Not much far away we have the most famous atraction in Peru - Machu Picchu!

The train to get to one of the 7 wonderes of the world is quite expensive, around 100 dollars a return ticket! and that wouldn’t include the entrance to “Machu”…So… we had to find a “better” way to get there! Through an agency we’ve got a better offer … for almost the same price we would pay we got a tour of 1 night and 2 days with meals and guide included. So let’s do it!
Machu Picchu (old moutain in quechua) is really amaizing! A village on the top of the world. Actually it’s belived that the Incas picked up the place not only for the natural resources and comercial trails around (7 in all), but as well to be next to the sun as possible. By the way, you can still see nowdays the importance of the sun to this people when you think about they’re currency which is called sol = sun !

The meals included weren’t, as we expected, not the best ones… here you have to take care of your somatch if you want to survive the journey without spending to much time on the toillet (if you know what I mean). But we’ll always remeber this trip as a funny one, once we met 2 very nice chicos from Argentina: Miguel and Sebastian. Saludos amigos!!!

It’s time to leave now…. next stop will be in Puno, where we’ll visit the floating islands with indigena culture: Uros and Taquilla, both placed in the highest lake in the world : Lago Titicacca

hasta luego!!!

PS. Did we mention that one bagpack of ours was stollen while sleeping in a camping site in Cordillera Blanca? :P But at least the tiefs were “nice” and left us the content of it! Now I have a new bagpack…more confortable, but as heavier as before!

AHHHH PLEASE DON’T FORGET TO SIGN YOUR POSTS!!!

Huaraz 15.09

Hola chicos!

We just came out from our treck in the high Cordillera Blanca and.. we found our burritoooooooooooooo ! Without Samuel (this is the burrito’s name) we would never make it to treck all Santa Cruz way long…our bagpacks weight all in all more than 40 kg! As we knew before the areeiro (the burrito’s owner) came along with us, but we were prepaired and rented a tentand bought food just for him ;) About the treck…what can we say…just amazing! The highest sumit - Punta Union, is 4,700 meters high. You feel like camping on the roof of the world :)) From there we can see what was named once the most beautiful mountain in the world: Altamayo! Yeah this one we didn’t climbed. it takes you a lot of experience and (heavy!) equipment for snow to do that …maybe next time (if we’ll survive the patagonian trecks, heheh just kidding! )

10.09.08 Huaraz

Hola muchachos y muchachas !

Saludos de Huaraz! Greetings from Huaraz !

We arrived in this nice village 4 days ago. It was around 5h30am and it was fuck** fresh. Huaraz is a very poor and small ¨place surounded by the great Cordillera Blanca (highest mountains in Peru), which summits reaches over 6000 meters high :)) So…finally the perfect place for these 2 crazy heads to have a rest! or…maybe not really! We¨ll tell you all about it a paragraph further ;)
The Hostal we had book looked just like coming out of a fairy tale, but we knew it wouldn¨t be for ever…We had to look 4 something cheaper…when sudently …we were invited to stay in a closter which takes care of orfan and misstreated children. What a great experience it has been to see how these children smile and play, just like if they would always had had all the confort and material things we`re used to. Actually if it wouldn´t be for this organization they would have to skip some meals and would never get to know some basic higienic steps as brushing their teeth. They smile, play, jump with us…after all chilren will always be children :)) and we can see in their smilly  faces…they¨re happy!

Ok but back 2 the “resting part”. We decided to “hit the road” and start with a one day trecking to Laguna Churup. The treck was great and everything would end up well if it wasn´t  the case of this Laguna being ca.4.500 meter high…jap, aclimatization was needed…as well as a couple of hojitas de coca  - coca leafs, which we forgot to buy the previous day… Result: a huuuuuge headacke! And a lesson: never leave your sweet leafs at home :)) Ahhhhh and don¨t forget to ask when the last colectivo leaves(small van in a bus style). This costed us walking almost all the way back to the village (started 8 am ended 7 pm)
Ok guys…that all 4 today…We hope you¨ll enjoy the pictures (Huaraz folder). Tomorrow we¨ll hit the road seriously and will do a 4 days trecking. We¨ll finally rent a burrito….and as the owner has to come along we rented already an extra tent 4 him!

hasta luegooooooooo!

06.09 Lima

Hola chicos y chiquititas : )

As you can imagine we wont  sit here in front of the PC every day, but we created this blog to let you know  what we´re up to.
We landed in smoky Lima 2 days ago. Lima, hmm… nothing special, but the nice people : )
To overcome the jetleg (yesterday we went to bed at 8 pm and woke up at 5am asking for breakfast) we bought some cocalyptus tee. By the way…. our cup is calling again.
In 5 hours we will take the night bus to Huaraz in Cordillera Blanca.

Hasta Luego!
