10.09.08 Huaraz

Hola muchachos y muchachas !

Saludos de Huaraz! Greetings from Huaraz !

We arrived in this nice village 4 days ago. It was around 5h30am and it was fuck** fresh. Huaraz is a very poor and small ¨place surounded by the great Cordillera Blanca (highest mountains in Peru), which summits reaches over 6000 meters high :)) So…finally the perfect place for these 2 crazy heads to have a rest! or…maybe not really! We¨ll tell you all about it a paragraph further ;)
The Hostal we had book looked just like coming out of a fairy tale, but we knew it wouldn¨t be for ever…We had to look 4 something cheaper…when sudently …we were invited to stay in a closter which takes care of orfan and misstreated children. What a great experience it has been to see how these children smile and play, just like if they would always had had all the confort and material things we`re used to. Actually if it wouldn´t be for this organization they would have to skip some meals and would never get to know some basic higienic steps as brushing their teeth. They smile, play, jump with us…after all chilren will always be children :)) and we can see in their smilly  faces…they¨re happy!

Ok but back 2 the “resting part”. We decided to “hit the road” and start with a one day trecking to Laguna Churup. The treck was great and everything would end up well if it wasn´t  the case of this Laguna being ca.4.500 meter high…jap, aclimatization was needed…as well as a couple of hojitas de coca  - coca leafs, which we forgot to buy the previous day… Result: a huuuuuge headacke! And a lesson: never leave your sweet leafs at home :)) Ahhhhh and don¨t forget to ask when the last colectivo leaves(small van in a bus style). This costed us walking almost all the way back to the village (started 8 am ended 7 pm)
Ok guys…that all 4 today…We hope you¨ll enjoy the pictures (Huaraz folder). Tomorrow we¨ll hit the road seriously and will do a 4 days trecking. We¨ll finally rent a burrito….and as the owner has to come along we rented already an extra tent 4 him!

hasta luegooooooooo!

that’s amazing the part of the kids!!

… but this idea of “children will always be children”… hm. dunno. The children who live in some favelas are so used to violence, I mean, they never had any demonstration of love and caress… so, some of these children grow up without knowing the value of a smile, of a good laugh…

it’s almost impossible to deal with these kids. One of my relatives works in a school made only for kids from the favelas. She told me it’s horrible. Some teachers have already been killed or violated - by kids!!! - in the school.

… and that’s really sad. ‘Cause these children have never been children at all…
